How ACC works

ACC (the Accident Compensation Corporation) helps cover the cost of treatment for injuries in New Zealand. Here’s what the process looks like with us.

01

Book in

Book directly with us — online or by phone. No GP referral required for most injuries.

02

We assess & lodge

We assess your injury and, if it's accident-related, lodge an ACC claim for you.

03

Start treatment

We begin your treatment plan straight away, with ACC covering part of the cost.

04

Recover with support

We manage the ACC side and guide your rehabilitation through to recovery.

What will it cost?

For accepted ACC claims, ACC covers a portion of your treatment cost and we charge a small surcharge on top. We’ll always be upfront about any costs before you’re treated.

ACC — your questions answered

Do I need a GP referral to use ACC for physiotherapy?
No. In New Zealand you can see a physiotherapist directly for an accident or injury and we can lodge an ACC claim for you — you don't need to see a GP first for most injuries.
Can you lodge my ACC claim for me?
Yes. As an ACC-registered provider, we can lodge a claim for your injury at your appointment and manage the ACC side of your treatment, so you can focus on recovery.
Is ACC physiotherapy free?
ACC covers a portion of the cost of treatment for accepted injury claims, and we charge a small surcharge on top. You can see the current prices on our Fees page, and we'll always confirm any cost with you before treatment.
What counts as an ACC injury?
ACC covers injuries caused by an accident — for example sprains, strains, fractures, and injuries from sport, work or daily life. If you're unsure whether your problem is covered, we can assess it and advise you.
Can I claim ACC for an injury that happened a while ago?
Often yes, provided it was caused by an accident. Bring any details you have about how and when it happened, and we can help determine whether a claim is appropriate.
What do I need to bring to an ACC appointment?
If you already have an ACC claim number, bring it. Otherwise just bring details of how the injury happened, photo ID, and wear comfortable clothing you can move in. If a GP or specialist referred you, bring the letter.
